Short Reports

This format is designed for preliminary, exploratory, or smaller-scale studies that contribute to ethical thinking and practice in coaching and related professional contexts.

Short Reports may include:

  • early-stage research
  • small sample studies
  • emerging findings
  • work that offers meaningful insight despite limited scope

Length

Up to 2000 words (excluding references and appendices)

Submission Format

Short Reports should follow the same structure as Research Papers, adapted as appropriate to the scope of the study:

      1. Title
      2. Abstract (max 250 words)
      3. Keywords (5)
      4. Introduction
      5. Method (include statement on ethical approval where applicable)
      6. Results
      7. Discussion
      8. Limitations/Future Directions
      9. References (APA format)
      10. Generative AI Disclosure

Authors should include a statement outlining any use of generative AI tools where such use has materially contributed to the substantive content, analysis, or intellectual framing of the work.

The use of generative AI as part of idea development, reflection, language refinement, or editorial support does not require disclosure. This is considered analogous to engaging with colleagues, mentors, or other forms of intellectual exchange.

Authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, and integrity of the work. Generative AI tools must not be used to produce content that is presented as the author’s own without substantive author input, interpretation, and validation.

Please select and adapt the statement that best reflects your use.

    1. No generative AI used
No generative AI tools were used in the preparation of this manuscript.
    2. Substantive contribution to writing or content
Generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) were used to support aspects of substantive content development or drafting. All content has been critically reviewed, verified, and finalised by the author(s).
    3. Methodological or analytical use
Generative AI tools were used in aspects of data analysis or methodological processing. All analytical decisions, interpretations, and conclusions were conducted and validated by the author(s).
    4. Visual content generation (if applicable)
Generative AI tools were used in the development of figures or visual materials. All outputs were reviewed and refined by the author(s).

Expectations

Short Reports are not reduced versions of full papers, but distinct contributions appropriate to the scale and stage of the research.

Short Reports are expected to present a clear, coherent, and methodologically sound contribution, even where the scope of the study is limited.

Submissions should:

  • demonstrate appropriate methodological rigour for the scale of the study
  • engage with relevant literature or theoretical perspectives
  • make clear how the findings contribute to ethical understanding, practice, or inquiry

Editorial Note

Final classification as a Short Report or Full Paper remains at the Editor’s discretion.
